Skoda has unveiled a new incarnation of the Skoda Kodiaq, a D-segment SUV. The car will come with several internal combustion engines to choose from, but from our point of view the most interesting is the mixed drive, plug-in hybrid. The new Skoda Kodiaq iV has a battery with a capacity of as much as 25.7 kWh, thanks to which it is expected to drive more than 100 WLTP units on a single charge (85 kilometers or more). Despite it, the rear of the car managed to accommodate as much as 745 liters of trunk space.
Skoda Kodiaq (2024) – specifications and everything we know
The new VW Passat estate uses a battery with a usable capacity of 19.7 kWh. Skoda, on the other hand, boasts a value of 25.7 kWh without mentioning whether this is the total or usable capacity – so we assume that we are talking about the total value and the usable, available to the user, is about 24 kWh. This figure matches the claimed range of “more than 100 WLTP units.”
With typical urban/suburban operation, the owner of the new Skoda Kodiaq will only hear the sound of the internal combustion engine when he or she embarks on a longer trip. Alternatively, when he presses the accelerator pedal very hard.
The total power output of the powertrain in the plug-in hybrid is a modest 150 kW/204 hp, with the 1.5 TSI internal combustion engine achieving a maximum of 110 kW/150 hp (source). This value is sufficient for quiet driving, after all, it is worth adding that in the electric Skoda Enyaq (a large C-SUV) it is rather basic, the weakest engine paired with a smaller 62 (58) kWh battery has 132 kW/179 hp. In terms of dynamics, the most powerful civilian Skoda Kodiaq (2.0 TSI, AWD, 150 kW) ends roughly where the Skoda Enyaq begins (132 kW in the 60 version, 150 kW in the 80 version; RWD).
The new Skoda Kodiaq has an 11 kW AC-DC three-phase charger and a DC fast-charging connector, CCS, which allows it to accelerate to a maximum of 50 kW. Charging time from 10 to 80 percent is expected to be 25 minutes. The car is available with optional matrix headlights (TOP LED), a horizontal light strip will appear on the radiator grille, and the model will be offered in 5- and 7-seat versions. The dials will handle various functions, and will allow control of volume or air output, among other things. Switching between options is done by touching the center of the dial.
A note from the editors of EV-Catalog: this is how it occurred to us that the 25.7 kWh mentioned may be a useful value after all, as it is a total aliquot, almost perfectly 1/3 of the 77 kWh, the nominal battery capacity of the Skoda Enyaq.
Note 2: We wonder if oil services will be conducted according to the mileage of the car, or perhaps the mileage of the internal combustion engine.
The answer to our question was quickly provided by Mr. Ferrari95:

The annual mileage of the internal combustion engine could be about 1,000 kilometers with a total mileage of about 12,000 kilometers.
